Salary negotiation email and script
The awkward part, written for you. Give it the offer, your target and whatever backs you up. It writes the ask.

Fill in a couple of fields. Your letter appears here.
Most people accept the first number because they can't find the words for the ask.
The words aren't complicated. Be enthusiastic about the role. Name a specific number. Give one reason. Then stop talking.
That's the whole script.
The 3 rules
Name a number. "Is there flexibility?" invites a no. A specific figure gives them something they'll take to finance.
Anchor high, not silly. 10 to 20% above the offer is normal territory that recruiters deal with every week. Double is a conversation ender.
Stay warm throughout. You're asking a future colleague to help you get to yes, so don't make it a fight.
Say it, then be quiet
On a call, this is the hard bit.
Make the ask in one sentence. Then let the silence sit, however uncomfortable it gets, because people fill silences by negotiating against themselves. Don't be that person.
When you have no competing offer
You're not powerless.
Replacing you costs them weeks. They've already picked you out of maybe 200 applicants, which tells you something about how much they'd rather not start over.
That's real information.
Anchor on the scope of the role. Talk about what you'll own in your first 90 days. That's harder to argue with than a number you've plucked from nowhere.
Never invent a competing offer. It's the one move that can cost you the job outright, because the next question is always which company.
What makes Sendout different
Three things. They happen to be the three biggest complaints people have about every other tool in this category.
- It works from your own accounts. Applications and outreach go out from your real email and LinkedIn. Human pace. Your voice. Your reputation carries them, not a vendor's server IP. Nothing sprays.
- It fills real application forms. Sendout completes actual ATS applications on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workday. It answers the open-ended questions in your voice. This is a real submission, not a browser autofill you still have to babysit.
- It filters ghost jobs. Roughly one in five postings is stale or a repost nobody reads. Sendout drops those and pursues live openings where a real hiring person can be reached.
When a recruiter replies, the conversation lands in one inbox. You can take over any thread with a click. You show up to the conversations. Sendout does the busywork.
Frequently asked
How do I ask for a higher salary by email?
Thank them and confirm you want the role, then name a target number with one concrete reason. Ask if there is room to get there. Keep it under 150 words. Stay warm.
How much more should I ask for?
Ten to twenty percent above the offer is normal and gets taken seriously. Much beyond that needs a competing offer to back it.
Can I negotiate without another offer?
Yes. Anchor on the scope of the role instead of a bluff. Never invent a competing offer, because one question about which company ends the conversation badly.
Is it better to negotiate on a call or over email?
Email gives you a clean written number and time to phrase it well. A call is better when the relationship is already warm. Either way: name the figure, then stop talking.
