Is LinkedIn Premium worth it for a job search?
Updated 2026-07-26 · honest comparison by the Sendout team
It is the default paid upgrade almost every job seeker considers. Here is what it does and does not change.
Premium Career is the tier most job seekers look at. The honest verdict is that some of it is genuinely useful and some of it is reassurance.
What is actually useful
- InMail. The real feature. Messaging people outside your network is the one thing you cannot do otherwise, and reaching hiring managers is the highest-leverage move in a search.
- Who viewed your profile. Occasionally tells you a company is looking at you, which is a genuine signal for timing a follow-up.
- Higher connection and search limits. Matters if you are actively building a network rather than browsing.
What is mostly reassurance
- Applicant insights. Knowing you are in the top half of applicants is interesting and changes nothing you would do.
- The Premium badge. No evidence it makes recruiters treat you differently. Everyone knows it is purchased.
- Learning courses. Good content, but you are unlikely to work through them during an active search, and that is not why you subscribed.
The honest verdict
If you will actually use the InMails to contact hiring managers every week, it earns its cost. If you subscribe and use it to check who viewed your profile, you have bought a dashboard. Be honest with yourself about which one you are, and note that the free trial is enough to find out.
The thing to compare it against
Premium gives you the ability to send messages. It does not find the roles, write the messages, complete the applications, or follow up. Sendout does those, from your own accounts, starting at $9.99 a week. Some people run both. The question worth asking is which one removes work rather than adding a place to do it.
What makes Sendout different
Three things. They happen to be the three biggest complaints people have about every other tool in this category.
- It works from your own accounts. Applications and outreach go out from your real email and LinkedIn. Human pace. Your voice. Your reputation carries them, not a vendor's server IP. Nothing sprays.
- It fills real application forms. Sendout completes actual ATS applications on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workday. It answers the open-ended questions in your voice. This is a real submission, not a browser autofill you still have to babysit.
- It filters ghost jobs. Roughly one in five postings is stale or a repost nobody reads. Sendout drops those and pursues live openings where a real hiring person can be reached.
When a recruiter replies, the conversation lands in one inbox. You can take over any thread with a click. You show up to the conversations. Sendout does the busywork.
Frequently asked
Does LinkedIn Premium help you get hired?
Indirectly, mainly through InMail letting you contact people outside your network. The badge and applicant insights do not meaningfully change outcomes.
Is the Premium badge worth anything to recruiters?
There is no good evidence that it is. Recruiters know it is a paid subscription.
