LinkedIn Easy Apply, and when to skip it

Easy Apply takes thirty seconds. The company site takes thirty minutes. The thirty seconds is not free, and it is worth knowing exactly what you trade for it.

What LinkedIn Easy Apply is: a one-click route that submits your LinkedIn profile, plus a resume and 2 or 3 screening answers, straight to the employer.

You never leave LinkedIn. There's no company form and no account to create.

Easy Apply exists because friction reduces applications. It works. Postings carrying it collect far more applicants.

Which is exactly your problem.

What actually happens to an Easy Apply submission

It lands in the employer's LinkedIn Recruiter inbox. Or it's pushed into their ATS, if they've wired that up.

Then it queues behind everyone who clicked.

Plenty of employers never connect the two systems. Those applications sit in a LinkedIn inbox somebody remembers to open weekly, if that.

The case against Easy Apply

It's a volume play, not a useless one.

The case for the company site

The cost is thirty minutes, not thirty seconds.

When Easy Apply is fine

Being fair, Easy Apply beats not applying. That's true for a role you're lukewarm about. It's also true when you want breadth cheaply, or when it's the only route offered.

It's a poor primary strategy. Still, it's a reasonable supplement.

The practical answer

Apply on the company's own system for anything you actually want, and reach a human there.

People don't default to Easy Apply because they think it works better. They default to it because the company site takes thirty minutes and they've got eleven roles open in tabs.

Removing that constraint is the whole point of automating the form-filling.

One thing worth doing before either route: check the posting is real. And if you're tempted to hand Easy Apply to a bot instead, read what LinkedIn's own rules say about that first.

Paste the link into the free ghost job checker. It reads the true posting date off the page, looks for reposted copies and tells you whether anyone's reachable. Of the 551 postings we studied, 329 had nobody behind them.

What makes Sendout different

Three things. They happen to be the three biggest complaints people have about every other tool in this category.

When a recruiter replies, the conversation lands in one inbox. You can take over any thread with a click. You show up to the conversations. Sendout does the busywork.

Frequently asked

What is LinkedIn Easy Apply?

A one-click apply route inside LinkedIn. Instead of sending you to the company website, it submits your LinkedIn profile plus a resume and a few screening answers directly to the employer. It exists to remove friction, which is exactly why the pile it creates is so large.

Is LinkedIn Easy Apply worth using?

It is fine as a supplement for roles you are lukewarm about or where it is the only option. As a primary strategy it puts you in the largest pile with the least differentiation.

Do recruiters ignore Easy Apply applications?

They are not ignored as a rule. But they arrive in far greater numbers with far less to distinguish them, which has the same practical effect for most applicants.

Why does Easy Apply get so few responses?

Three reasons stack up. The pile is bigger, your submission carries less information than a completed company form, and some employers never connect LinkedIn to their ATS so the application sits in an inbox nobody opens.

On top of that, plenty of postings have nobody reachable behind them at all: in our own study of 551 postings, 329 had no reachable human.

Can you tell if an Easy Apply job is even real?

Often, yes, before you apply. Age past 60 days, the same role reposted on a cycle and nobody named anywhere are all visible up front. Paste the posting link into our free ghost job checker and it reads the real date off the page and scores it.
