The best job boards in 2026

Updated 2026-07-26 · honest comparison by the Sendout team

Every board has the same core problem: stale listings mixed in with live ones, and no way to tell them apart at a glance.

Board choice matters less than people expect, because the large boards increasingly aggregate from the same sources. What actually varies is how much stale inventory you have to wade through and whether you can reach the employer directly.

The main options

LinkedIn

Best for: reach and identifying the humans

The largest pool and the only one where you can identify and contact the hiring manager in the same place you found the role. The tradeoff is Easy Apply volume, which puts you in enormous piles with little differentiation.

Indeed

Best for: breadth, especially outside tech

Enormous coverage and strong for non-tech and hourly roles. Heavy aggregation means more duplicated and stale listings to filter.

Company career pages

Best for: the highest-quality applications

Fewer applicants get through the friction and your data lands directly in the system recruiters work in. The reason people skip it is that it is slow, one company at a time.

Niche and industry boards

Best for: less competition per posting

Smaller boards for a specific function or industry often have a fraction of the applicants per role. Worth finding the two or three that serve your field.

The thing that matters more than the board

Freshness. A posting from a few hours ago on any board beats a month-old listing on the best board, because someone is actively reviewing the first one. A meaningful share of listings anywhere are stale, filled, evergreen pipeline ads, or reposts nobody reads.

Two signals are worth filtering on regardless of source: how recently it went up, and whether you can identify a real person attached to the role. Sendout gates on both. You can see it working on the live jobs board, where every role carries how recently it posted.

What makes Sendout different

Three things. They happen to be the three biggest complaints people have about every other tool in this category.

When a recruiter replies, the conversation lands in one inbox. You can take over any thread with a click. You show up to the conversations. Sendout does the busywork.

Frequently asked

Which job board is best?

For most people LinkedIn for reach and the ability to contact people, company career pages for application quality, and one or two niche boards for your field. Freshness of the posting matters more than which board it came from.

Are job boards full of fake jobs?

Not usually fake, but a meaningful share are stale, already filled, evergreen pipeline ads, or reposts that nobody is actively reviewing. Filtering on recency is the practical defence.
