Sendout vs Resumly (2026)
These two get compared a lot and they aren't really the same product. One helps you build a better application. The other sends it, chases it, and answers the reply.
Updated 2026-08-03 · written by the Sendout team, who built the tool this page is about
The honest summary first. If what you need is a stronger resume, Resumly is built for that and we aren't. If what you need is the search itself run for you, that's Sendout.
Resumly sits in the resume-tooling lane. Building and tailoring resumes, plus a free ATS-style checker that scores a resume against a posting.
That checker is a good front door. It costs nothing. Plenty of people get value without ever paying.
Sendout starts a step later. It finds fresh openings and drops the ghost listings. It submits the real application on the company's own system. Then it emails the hiring person from your own address and answers the recruiter when they reply.

| Best for | Fixing the document | Not having to run the search |
We won't publish a price for Resumly. Their plans change. A stale number in a comparison table is worse than no number, so check their pricing page.
Where Resumly is the better pick
Fair is fair. Three cases where we'd send you there instead.
- Your applications get read and go nowhere. That's a document problem. No amount of sending fixes it.
- You're changing career track and the resume needs rebuilding rather than tuning.
- You want to spend nothing. Their checker is free and useful, and our free week eventually ends.
Where the difference actually bites
A better resume raises your conversion on applications that get read. It does nothing about the two problems that eat most searches.
Reach, and speed of reply.
The first is reach. Of the 551 postings we tracked between 16 July and 1 August 2026, 329 had nobody reachable behind them. That's 59.7 percent. A perfect resume submitted into one of those is still a perfect resume nobody opens.
The second is the reply. A recruiter writes back on day four asking about availability and pay. If that message sits for two days, the slot goes to whoever answered first.
Resume tools have nothing for that moment. Neither do most auto-apply tools.
Can you use both?
Yes. It's a sensible pairing. Build the resume where the resume tooling is good. Then hand the finished document to something that will go and use it forty times a week.
Check a posting before you spend an hour on it
Two free things, no signup on either.
- The ghost job checker takes a posting link. It opens the posting, reads the real date off the page, looks for reposted copies and checks whether anyone at the company is reachable. You get a ghost score out of 100 with the reasons listed.
- The Ghost Job Index is the underlying study, updated monthly. 551 postings, what share had a human behind them, and how we measured it.
What makes Sendout different
Three things. They happen to be the three biggest complaints people have about every other tool in this category.
- It works from your own accounts. Applications and outreach go out from your real email and LinkedIn. Human pace. Your voice. Your reputation carries them, not a vendor's server IP. Nothing sprays.
- It fills real application forms. Sendout completes actual ATS applications on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workday. It answers the open-ended questions in your voice. This is a real submission, not a browser autofill you still have to babysit.
- It filters ghost jobs. Roughly one in five postings is stale or a repost nobody reads. Sendout drops those and pursues live openings where a real hiring person can be reached.
When a recruiter replies, the conversation lands in one inbox. You can take over any thread with a click. You show up to the conversations. Sendout does the busywork.
Frequently asked
Is Resumly a Sendout competitor?
Only partly. They overlap on using AI in a job search. The products do different jobs. Resumly is strongest on the document: building, tailoring and scoring a resume against a posting. Sendout is about the search itself, from finding the opening to answering the recruiter.
Does Sendout write my resume?
It tailors what you give it and writes the open-ended application questions in your voice, from your background. It isn't a resume builder. If your document needs rebuilding from scratch, a dedicated resume tool does that better.
Which one is cheaper?
Depends on the plan, and both change, so check the live pricing pages. 99 for Pro, billed weekly, first week free, no card to start.
A job search should end rather than renew forever.
Do I need a good resume for Sendout to work?
You need a truthful, current one. Sendout tailors the framing per application. It won't invent experience you don't have, and it shouldn't. If your resume is genuinely weak, fix that first, with them or anyone else, then automate the sending.
